Labour intensive, but I use Heaven and Earth to generate the base map and then add to it in MS Paint. I've played around with Heaven and Earth before but never tried to export the visual. Can you do Heaven and Earth without hexes? I'm trying to go the wormhole route. Do you think GIMP will work as well?
